A Winter's Tale by Alphabet Soup Puppeteers

Looking forward to winter break? Join Charley and the Alphabet Soup Puppeteers on Saturday, December 11 at 3pm in Simi Valley Library's Community Room.

Charley is also looking forward to winter break. He wants to have an adventure, not clean his room!  He dreams he learns to dance with a swan, sing with the sugar plum fairies, ride a skateboard and care about his family and friends.

Celebrate Early Literacy Month with the Ventura County Library at two special events on Saturday November 6, 2010:

The 1st World BookFest will be held from 9am - 2pm at Monte Vista Middle School.  Join us for multicultural stories and entertainment plus rescources for families.

The 5th annual Young Reader's StoryFest will be held in Ventura from 9am - 2pm at 255 W. Stanley Ave.

Join the celebration of stories, books and reading!

Student Strings at Ojai Library

Ojai Library and Amy Hagen, the Artistic Director of the Ojai Youth Symphony present a small string ensemble at the Ojai Library for the first Sunday in November.

The hour long program begins at 1 pm. Please join us for a restful afternoon, Sunday, November 7!

Bears at the Library?

Ojai Wildlife League presents a conversation with Marty Wall of the California Department of Fish and Game at Ojai Library on Tuesday, Nov. 9th at 7pm.

Learn about our local bears and how to live more humanely and harmoniously with them. Donations requested/accepted.

Move For Hunger Food Drive

Ventura County Library (VCL) is participating in the 2nd annual Move For Hunger holiday food drive. This is a campaign presented by VCL, Sheeler Moving and Food Share that extends through the month of November.

Unopened, nonperishable food items can be donated during the month of November at the following libraries: Avenue, Camarillo, Fillmore, E.P. Foster, Meiners Oaks, Oak Park, Oak View, Ojai and Ray D. Prueter. Expired food will not be accepted.

Sheeler Moving will deliver your donations to the food bank at the beginning of December. Donate to the closest library to help fight hunger this holiday season!

Gypsy Folk Ensemble at Simi Valley Library

The Gypsy Folk Ensemble are performing at Simi Valley Library on Sunday, November 14 at 3 pm

Holidays with Gypsy gives a glimpse of California's rich multicultural heritage as it explores the December holiday customs of several cultural groups: the Mexican-American tradition of Las Posadas, the Central European sources of Christmas customs such as the Christmas Tree and Santa Claus, the meaning of the eight day Jewish festival of Hanukkah, and the California roots of the African-American holiday and cultural celebration of Kwanzaa.

Celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza and Los Posadas with a colorful mixture of dances from various countries!

Birds of the Ojai Valley with Allen Bertke

Join Allen Bertke, a photographer and the official leader of the Beginning Bird Walks sponsored by the Ventura Audubon Society for Birds of the Ojai Valley, Monday, October 18th, 6pm at Ojai Library.

Mr. Bertke will be leading a discussion and showing his photographs of Ojai Valley birds. Come and learn about the local winged ones!
