Oak View Solito Book Discussion

Join us at 3pm on Wednesday, September 27, at the Oak View Library for a group discussion of this year's One County, One Book selection, Solito by Javier Zamora. The One County, One Book program aims to spark conversations, foster a stronger sense of community, and promote a love of reading and literature throughout the county. Solito is Zamora’s memoir of his migration from El Salvador to the United States at the age of nine. From the official description

Join us at 6pm on Wednesday, September 20, at the Ojai Library for a group discussion of this year's One County, One Book selection, Solito by Javier Zamora. The One County, One Book program aims to spark conversations, foster a stronger sense of community, and promote a love of reading and literature throughout the county. Solito is Zamora’s memoir of his migration from El Salvador to the United States at the age of nine. From the official description:

One County, One Book events include a Faculty and Alumni Panel Discussion presented by California Lutheran University. Cal Lutheran will present a panel of professors— Dr. Julia Fogg, Dr. Jamshid Damooei, and Dr. Jose Alfredo Torres—who will talk about border crossings, the criminalization of immigration, and the economic impact of immigrants in Ventura County. This event will take place in Cal Lutheran’s Lundring Events Center at 7pm on Thursday, September 21, 2023.

The Ventura County Library is pleased to announce the selection for One County, One Book 2022. This year's title is Taste Makers: Seven Immigrant Women Who Revolutionized Food in America by Mayukh Sen! Cal Lutheran will present a panel of professors and alums to talk about the role of food (like chocolate) in American history and culture with Dr. Sam Claussen, Chef Antonio Sessa (’15), and Dr. Michaela Reaves.
