Join us at 3pm on Wednesday, September 27, at the Oak View Library for a group discussion of this year's One County, One Book selection, Solito by Javier Zamora. The One County, One Book program aims to spark conversations, foster a stronger sense of community, and promote a love of reading and literature throughout the county. Solito is Zamora’s memoir of his migration from El Salvador to the United States at the age of nine. From the official description:
“Solito not only provides an immediate and intimate account of a treacherous and near-impossible journey, but also the miraculous kindness and love delivered at the most unexpected moments. Solito is Javier’s story, but it’s also the story of millions of others who had no choice but to leave home.”
This discussion will be facilitated by library staff, and is free and open to the public.
There will be an author talk featuring Javier Zamora on Saturday, September 30, on the campus of California State University, Channel Islands. Please see additional information about this event, links to companion reads for all ages, and other related programs and events on the Ventura County - One County, One Book 2023 web page.
