In-person services currently available at the Ventura County Libraries:
   - Walk Up Holds Pick Up (no appointment needed)
   - Indoor browsing and checkout of materials (appointment recommended)
   - Computer Labs (appointment recommended)

Due to mandatory limitations on the number of people allowed to use services at a time, we strongly recommend contacting your local library to make an appointment to use the browsing and computer services.  Walk ups will be accommodated as space allows.

  • NEW Beanstack Winter Reading Challenge! Keep track of your reading on our new Beanstack site at   As this is a new site, registration is required.
  • VCL Art Lessons  Join Miss Kat for a children's book character drawing demo every Wednesday at 3:30pm at Ventura County Library on Facebook. Make sure to have your favorite drawing tool and a piece of paper ready to go! Past lessons can be found on the VCL YouTube STEAM Fun playlist.
  • Minecraft Mondays  Ventura County Library is hosting a Minecraft server to provide a fun, open, and collaborative Minecraft building environment for kids and teens. Participants must have parental permission and own a personal Minecraft Java Edition license (PC or MAC computers only) or a Minecraft Bedrock license (Windows 10 Edition or App) and use Minecraft Version 1.16.3 for the Java Edition or the latest version of the Windows 10 Edition or App. Tjoin, please send your request to the Minecraft Librarian Verified participants will be “Allow Listed”, thereby granted permission to access the server. 
  • Dav Pilkey at Home  Read, draw, and create with your favorite characters from Dog Man & Captain Underpants.
  • Digital Escape Rooms & Activities  Links have been compiled and sorted into Family Fun, Teen, and Adult categories by staff at the Sun Prairie and Salt Lake County public libraries.
  • Draw Everyday with JJK  Lunch Lady and Hey Kid author/illustrator Jarrett J Krosoczka teaches a daily drawing lesson on his YouTube channel.
  • GoNoodle  A physical education video library filled with movement, breathing, song, and dance activities. Indoor recess for kids ages 5-12.
  • Harry Potter at Home  Activities, articles, quizzes, puzzles, and more from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts. Register for free access.
  • How to Toon   How To Toon's YouTube channel features cartooning lessons (some Live!) for all ages taught by cartoonist Joe Wos.
  • Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems  All 15 doodling episodes from author/illustrator and Kennedy Center Education Artist-in-Residence Mo Willems are archived on this YouTube playlist.
  • Mouse Circus  The official Neil Gaiman website for younger readers, featuring read-alouds and downloadable activities.
  • Old Farmer's Almanac for Kids  Explore free stories and projects for kids, from the editors of the Old Farmer's Almanac for Kids magazine. Includes some advertising.
