Backyard

Red Rose in backyard.

After channeling my inner Monty Don and polishing off a pot of tea I trudged to the backyard.

Weed infested beyond belief, I started tugging unwanted plants from Mother Earth.

The soil was soft which made my efforts much easier. I pulled the weeds that encircled the apple tree and long since dead apricot tree.

Hearing the birds chirp and the sweet aroma of orange blossoms made my labor quite pleasant.

Looking north toward Antelope Valley

Mt. Baden-Powell is the second highest mountain in the San Gabriel Mountain Range north of Los Angeles. The trail to the top of Mt. Baden Powell begins at Vincent Gap just off Angeles Crest Highway. The best way to get to Vincent Gap during early morning hours is to use the 210 Freeway to I-15 north, exit to 138 and then turn left (west) when you get to Angeles Crest Highway, CA-2.  Drive 14 miles west to Vincent Gap. The trail to the top is 4 miles long with a 2,800 elevation gain taking you from 6,500 feet to 9,400 feet.
