This event is free and open to youth, grades 5 - 12. Children 4th grade or younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Following the receipt of a Sustainable California Libraries Grant from the California State Library, and in collaboration with the County Executive Office’s Sustainability Division, the Ventura County Library is proud to present a series of sustainability-themed programs at the Piru Library, Saticoy Library, and Soliz Library branches.

Hug-A-Tree and Survive

Hug-a-Tree and Survive is an AdventureSmart program that helps lost children survive in the woods. It teaches children how not to become lost in the woods, and what to do should they become lost. Come and learn with us about how children can stay safe while exploring the great outdoors!

Join us for a vibrant and hands-on celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month as we explore the rich traditions of Huichol Yarn Art! Dive into the colorful world of the Huichol people, an Indigenous group from Mexico known for their intricate yarn paintings. Using bright yarns and traditional designs, you’ll create your own unique piece of art to take home.
