Hug-a-Tree and Survive is an AdventureSmart program that helps lost children survive in the woods. It teaches children how not to become lost in the woods, and what to do should they become lost. Come and learn with us about how children can stay safe while exploring the great outdoors!

Join us for a vibrant and hands-on celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month as we explore the rich traditions of Huichol Yarn Art! Dive into the colorful world of the Huichol people, an Indigenous group from Mexico known for their intricate yarn paintings. Using bright yarns and traditional designs, you’ll create your own unique piece of art to take home.
INCA will present music and dances from the native Incas of Peru, the Criollo coastal communities, the Amazon jungle natives, and the Afro-Peruvian communities from towns south of Lima. The musicians play Andean ethnic instruments, which include woodwinds, percussion and strings. This program is made possible in part with a grant from the California Arts Council.
Celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day with a special community event at the Fillmore Library on Monday, October 14 at 5pm. We'll begin with a Welcoming by Local Chumash singer/dancer Judi Ortiz, then continue with an Interactive Intertribal Singing Session led by Alotl Aparicio and Aztec Dancing with Kalpulli Huitzilin Ihuan Xochitl. All are welcome!
