Hello again my name is David and I am a Library Tech at E.P. Foster Library and amateur photographer.
This is the story behind the photo.
This is a photo of a wild earthling of the feline type, a bobcat! I was fortunate to encounter this bobcat on my morning bicycle commute on the Ventura River Parkway Trail.
After sighting bobcats on a couple of dozen occasions in the same general area, I suspect that this area is in the vicinity of a bobcat den. There are a couple of woodrat nests, possibly the bobcats have chased the denizens out and made themselves at home. Pure speculation on my part,
I was surprised that the bobcat was not alarmed by my presence and was slow to move along. This gave me the opportunity to get a quick snapshot of the bobcat before it decided to dash off towards the river.
Because of this encounter I have become interested in researching the lives of bobcats, but for those of you interested in the more domesticated types of felines give the book Cat watching by Desmond Morris a try.
A terrific book for the younger cat fans is Millions of cats, by Wanda Gág. This book is a real treasure for cat lovers.
Thank you and keep reading.
